I am in the process of installing a new upper cowl panel on my 1980 T/A.

I bought the one from Classic Industries #K842.

They told me that it should be a direct fit, however I am having difficilty believing them as I see definite differences in the shape.

Also, the lower dash section will not meet where the spot welds go correctly.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Any input would be appreciated.

Can you take a pic to show the differences?

Sometimes, repro panels are next to useless.

I had a reputable brand qtr patch panel for my 72 Challenger that was so bad I couldn’t use it. 🙄

Here is the panel.

Never done this before, but I am sure this is not right.

The VIN number slot is too small, and the whole corner is different.

I haven't got a dash to compare it with either.

Ahh, yeah, I get you now.

Not only is the profile all wrong, but the VIN window is totally different, too!

I wonder if there was a difference in the moulding from early to later cars?

For example, the change in 76 to a large wraparound rear glass, did that also include other changes?

I’ll check my ‘79. 👍
