Is the 4-speed automatic faster off the line than the 6 speed manual?

Is it just as powerful?

We are trying to learn about the automatic on the 2002 Trans Am that we are picking up next week.

The 6-Speed has a little more top speed, but the auto is faster off the line.

Just really a preference, but the six speeds bring more money.
