My dad hauled cars in the 1980s and 90s.

It was never a big operation; it was mostly him and a truck and trailer, but occasionally, my granddad would drive, too.

Pensacola was a pretty sleepy town, but the military always had folks moving in and out.

One guy owned this 1977 trans am and had my dad move it across the country when he received orders.

Then, a few years later, he would move back to Pensacola.

He called my dad to move the car back.

When it came time for him to go to his next duty station, my dad made him an offer on the car instead of moving it again.

My dad owned the car from around 1998 until he died last year.

The car's warehouse was dropped on it when Hurricane Ivan stormed through in 2004.

When the building was removed, the car was transported to another garage.

It sat there until about a month ago when I pulled it out.

All I have had a chance to do is drain the tank, check the fluids, ensure the motor rotated, replace a fuel pump and battery, and do a once-over to see what doesn't work. I plan to do an Amazon rebuild on the carburetor this weekend.

Then slowly work through all the non functional items until it is a reliable driver.
