Are there any members with a gold Trans Am ( Solar Gold was the original color) that can assist?

I am trying to find a color match for my 1979 Trans Am respray and would love to see photos or hear of anyone with one.

The shade of gold is giving me big problems. Some show brown side tones; others look silvery gold - I'm just not sure what looks right anymore, and I am confused!

Any ideas or help would be appreciated!!

And that's how they were when new, complete with non-matching panels as painted separately. Many had to be resprayed under warranty due to failing or not matching.
Get a 1978 metal paint sample card from Dupont/GM etc and use as a sample when matching paint.

This is what I meant. if absolutely needed a sample and didn't have anything, grab an original paint sample they used to issue. Getting collectable but still out there. First is my sample for Gold 50. 55 and 56. These are metal plates, the size of your hand. I've lent a couple in the past locally, and added a few, even my own custom few like GM Corporate engine Blue.

Thanks very much for help and replies. With the help of my sprayer and his mate we have come up with a colour now at last. You can read about it and look at pics on my website transam79.com - the Gold Saga is on the BLog. He used a scan of my original paint and his system came back with about 6 close matches - most were a Pearlescent finish which I didn't like, but there was a true old-style metallic called Sandy Gold which we went for.
