Hello, I am selling my 1977 Formula Firebird, all matching numbers 400 cubic-inch with Hurst 4-speed manual transmission; estimates put production of 4-speed Formula 400s under 1000 cars, making this brown coupe a rare find.

The car is in great running condition 10,786 miles all interior have been redone, including all weather striping, a new set of wheels and tires, a new Aluminum radiator, a new water pump, a New power steering pump, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new brake master cylinder, Manual transmission has new front and rear bearings, new clutch, original paint, original AM, FM radio and working 8-track.

The car has a few minor rust spots shown in pictures, but nothing major.

Also, a car has lots of power and is ready for someone to enjoy.

I am asking $ 25,000 OBO.

Serious buyers only, please message me if interested.

Yes, this was on either CL or FB in the CA area for a while. I think what turned buyers off were those "minor" rust spots.

In a search for mid-70s Formula, I also encountered an original green '76 400-speed Formula in the Bay Area that was a nice, unusual car -- very unassuming with no decals or stripes -- that I talked the owner down to $16,500 for.

Still, it also had "minor rust," consisting of rear window sill rot spots and rot starting on the cowl/dash from a windshield leak.

The guy collected high-end cars and felt he could leave this one in the driveway for ten years.

Anyone looking to buy a mint, "rust-free CA car" should be aware of two things --- (1) Coastal salt air and (2) the Asian Dust Cloud, which brings heavy metals to the West Coast each year, usually worse around April.

If the car you want is not garaged, you might as well look for one in your backyard, as CA cars left outdoors ARE rusting from acid rain.

Look at the gutter rails of almost any CA station wagon for sale.
