Good evening,

New owner of a 77' Trans am.

It runs and doesn't look bad it has the 403 Olds motor in it.

I will be starting the tear down process. as its old engine and leaks and burns oil a little bit.

So, with this being said.

What do must people do with the 403, keep it, change it out?

I'm not looking for a race car, not a daily driver, but a car I can take to car shows and have a little fun with speed and HP at the same time.

Thank you

Olds 403 is a decent engine but has no HP.

My '79 403 was swapped with an Olds 455, and now she packs a punch!

To each their own on engine choice, but the 403 is not bad coupled with a high torque drivetrain.
