I have a 79 Trans Am with the 6.6L (403) that has a dented oil pan and has started to leak oil.

Has anyone attempted to replace an oil pan in the car?

I could probably take the motor mounts off and disconnect the exhaust, but I thought I’d ask and see if anyone has tried without doing so.

You can do exactly what you thought, but you'll need an engine hoist to help lift the motor a little bit.

Thank you,

I just did this on an 81 turbo. PITA!

I could not get the engine high enough to remove the pan without removing the trans and flexplate.
