No Fuel to Holley Carb?

The 74 455 T/A I shipped up from TN a few weeks ago is not getting gas to the Carb.

I put a new rubber hose from the metal line into the pump and a new fuel pump.

It has set in a garage since 1992.

I'll check other hoses and, I guess, drop the tank.

Has anyone else had this problem with one that has been sitiing for years?

I replaced the High Volume Fuel Pump with an identical one.

I'll trace everything back to the tank.

Sometimes, you get badly made parts.

At least you can rule out the pump; reassure yourself that the pump lever is located correctly.

The easiest way to check is to remove the line from the tank, put your finger over the inlet while someone cranks the engine, and feel for suction.

If you can feel suction, use a vacuum pump (like a Mityvac or a brake bleeder ) to draw up the fuel from the tank.

It’s probably air-locked; once you’ve primed it, everything will flow ok.

Reattach the line to the pump, disconnect the line from the carb, attach the vacuum pump, and do the same.

Sometimes, you can draw fuel up from the tank and through the pump from the carb line; try it first.

Front: Outlet to Carb

I replaced all the dry rotted rubber, but still no fuel to Carb.

An easy way to identify which is inlet or outlet is to remove lines from the pump and place your finger over the tapping while cranking the engine—only if it’s safe to do so!

You’ll easily feel pressure if it’s pumping ok.

While you have the lines disconnected, get that vacuum pump and make sure you can draw fuel up from the tank.
