The Agony Of A Rear Gear Fluid Change

So I just serviced my rear Diff (on 76), which was a contortionist's Hell. I may be "pleasantly on the heavy side" (so the doctor says), or I'm just feeling my old and rusty bones, but for the Love of God, how does anyone get passed all the obstructions facing the diff cover for removal and...

1974 Pontiac Trans Am - Plugged Holes In Door Jamb?

That may have been a more recent or its last known region. The best thing to do is get your vehicle's history from PHS (Pontiac Historical Society), which should at least give you the very first Dealership (region/country) it was sent to. You can research from there. Go to...

The Greatest Trans Am Tragedy Ever!

Punch in the stomach - At the end of March of 2021, a structure fire erupted at Trans Am Specialties in Florida, resulting in the loss of not only the very first 1977 Pontiac Trans Am SE Y82 Special Editions ever made but also one previously owned by the late Burt Reynolds and then some...

Rear Gears - Documentation Vs The GM Rumour

I recently came across an old post in a Chevy forum which claimed (albeit unconfirmed) that on occaision GM (Pontiac) changed rear Diff gears at a moment's notice on the assembly line once a particular vehicle was near shipping but which was suddenly identified for a partiuclar US region and...

1974 Pontiac Trans Am - Plugged Holes In Door Jamb?

I think I found it: "In the 1970s a Chicago company, Body by Thixo-Tex, became successful on a local scale by offering aftermarket rustproofing services to automobile owners. The company engaged an advertising agency, Dawson, Johns & Black, to promote the brand, which they did by creating the...

The Phantom Firebird - A Short Film

Not sure if all of you came across this 20-minute short from Senser Films on YT from 2021, but I thought I'd post this for the weekend ICYMI. Synopsis: "A 79 Firebird Trans Am is chased down in 1988 and flees into a cornfield... Thirty years later, the car still sits, covered in dust. When...

    Needing Identification Of Manifold Part?

I think that's it! Thanks, mate! Now would you happen to know if yours trickles out a little air? I talked to Mike's Carburetors, and the opinion was not to worry about it as it's just air and keep monitoring. Thoughts?

1974 Pontiac Trans Am - Plugged Holes In Door Jamb?

So I looked closer at your year-specific model and didn't see them, either (see 2 photos of 74 doors). It makes me wonder if someone had universal-type sills installed before it was returned to the correct ones. 'Course, that's just me guessing, but if you ever find out, let us know.

If I remember correctly, they served to drain the anti-corrosion solution from the dipping tanks during initial assembly (same with the trunk holes). Here's a flashback.

    Editing Restraint?

Thanks for the clarification. Here in this forum, it's not a major issue as it perhaps would be in those other social media platforms, and thankfully, there don't seem to be any Trolls lurking around here to provoke folks and cause trouble. Well, hopefully, you all can get it fine-tuned a...

    Editing Restraint?

Not sure if this site is run by quasi-AI or some other system, but I've noticed that posts are somehow edited to change adjectives and such, which changes the intent and delivery of the original message. Whether AI or a human, this should not be done absent pre-post recommendations and...
