ABS INOP light just after new brakes and rotors were installed.

Any tips on troubleshooting and best fixes would be appreciated.

Shops want to buy the most expensive everything.

The brakes work fine, just the light on; no other issues yet.

The scanner you need to communicate with the ABS module is called the GM Tech2.

VERY expensive.

It's like over a thousand dollars.

Did you replace the front rotors and pads? Maybe the speed sensor in the front wheel hub is bad.

Or maybe it could be the relay in the fuse box under the hood.

To get it checked, you would have to go to a GM dealership and let them run the scanner to see if there are any stored codes.

I just didn't for my car, and they charged $160 an hour labor to check it.

Also, the brake lights can get the ABS inop light to come on.

Try checking your brake lights, including the bulbs in the 3rd brake light. It may also be your brake switch as well.

Lastly, there is the control module for the ABS itself. Start with the easy stuff and go from there.

I hope this helps.

EDIT: Sorry, this post was made a year ago.

I hope you found a solution.
