350/290 Crate Engine - What Do You Tell The Parts Store?

I'm encountering some difficulty getting parts for my 1985 TA.

It has a 350/290 (12499529) replacement crate engine.

The 350 wasn't available in 1985, so the parts guys do a backflip when I ask for parts (today is an oil pressure sending unit).

What should I tell them is the make\model\year when asking for replacement engine parts?

Take the one out you have, then you should know what was used.

I did that with the oil filter.

I tried with the oil pressure sending unit, but there was no part number.

The parts store can matchup the old sending unit with a new one.
