    Speedometer Connection?

This information is from the 1988 service manual. Is this still your original transmission? If your new motor also came with a different transmission, and the donor car did not have a digital dash, the speedometer in your car won't work. If it's still your original transmission, check to make...

    Fuel Tank Repairs

When I bought this car, it was not running, and when the ignition key was turned on, the fuel tank did not make a sound. After checking the fuses and fuel pump relay, I determined the fuel pump was bad. I could smell gas, so I knew there was at least one or more leaks and a fuel pump issue...

    Clutch?

Is it possible that the clutch cross shaft will move your brake pedal enough to come off the brake switch? Snug bushing, perhaps? It might also be dragging on the hush panel under the dash, also possibly moving the brake pedal. Another possibility would be a failing or misadjusted brake...

The Agony Of A Rear Gear Fluid Change

When you go to change the differential fluid, use a Vac-extract to suck the gear oil out of the fill hole. It saves a lot of cleanup. Once the gasket surface is cleaned up, I use a couple of studs in two top holes and then hang the gasket and differential cover on the studs before inserting...

    Taillight Quality?

Has anyone noticed how reflective these taillights are as the car sits in the sun? I have had different people come up to me and say that my lights are on when, in fact, it is just the sunlight acting on the reflective surfaces within these lights. Well done, GM.

    Temp Gauge Not Working?

I was just doing a little reading and came across another possibility. It appears some 305s have a single wire sensor (should have a dark green wire) on the drivers side head, which is just for your temp gauge and nothing else. They also have a single wire sensor, in the passenger side head...

    Temp Gauge Not Working?

Temperature gage operation and testing. How it works. Coolant Temperature Gage The Coolant Temperature Gage is operated by two coils. Battery voltage is applied to both coils. The cold coil is grounded directly, and Hot coil is grounded through the Coolant Temperature Sender. This Hot...

    Temp Gauge Not Working?

What engine do you have? Is it a rally set of gages or a digital electronics instrument panel? When you replaced the sender, did you use teflon tape? If you did, the sender won't likely work. Remove the tape and try it again. This is a diagram of the 1985 rally gage cluster showing the...
