I am respraying my 1979 Trans Am, returning to the factory color ( listed as Solar Gold ).
Has anyone got one this color here?
I am having problems getting the "right" look to the gold - only doing the insides of doors at this stage to get the color correct.

I think you are correct.
I sent the photo to Firebird Specialist in the UK, and he is pretty sure that it is a heat shield for the starter motor solenoid on the 403.
