Dirty Harry With A 1977 Trans Am

Burt Reynolds wasn’t the only big-screen star wheeling a ’77 Special Edition Trans Am! We learned that Clint Eastwood took delivery of a ’77 S/E T/A from Corey Pontiac in Salinas, California, during the summer of 1977.

My Custom DIY Oil Change Card - Any Thoughts?

So, after many confusing opinions online, I settled for the SAE mentioned and added some details for the next owner down the road. The card is laminated, and I add mileage and date to a small piece of paper and Scotch-tape that to the corresponding fields (or I may print a new one every...

    1977 Trans Am VIN Help

I feel your pain. I spent time in the Mojave and, later on, a few places between LA and San Fran and never looked back after I left. For my part, all it took was paperwork and insurance, and I got a tag. I wish you well with the bureaucracy.

    1977 Trans Am VIN Help

That sounded familiar, so I checked my notes and found info from its brother (Camaro - see image). Unfortunately, in that case, it appears to be behind the core casing.

    Motor Oil Preferences?

I'm considering an oil grade/type change soon on my 76 with the Pontiac 400 (with 36k miles) and am curious to learn what everyone else is using. Conventional or synthetic? Grade? I'm currently running 10W-30 conventional but thinking of switching.

Remembering Mr. Trans Am On August 5

Image 1 - Jerry Titus (October 24, 1928 – August 5, 1970) was an American race car driver, mechanic, and journalist. While driving in a practice session on July 19, 1970, for the Trans Am race at Road America during the 1970 season, Jerry Titus' Pontiac Firebird experienced a steering gear...

Newbie From Australia - 50th Anniversary Interior Gold Gear Shift Color?

Here's another image but this one is of the Burt Reynold's 77 model, and the inlay is absent as well. Personally, I think it was godawful looking, and glad I removed someone else's aftermarket overkill. Just my taste, though.

Newbie From Australia - 50th Anniversary Interior Gold Gear Shift Color?

I found a featured 76/50th on Motortrend, which was reportedly a true original down to the shocks and had this image, so it doesn't appear that it had such. I myself have a 76 which a previous owner had an inlay installed, but I removed it long ago.

1981 Pontiac Turbo TA - Advice On A Motor Treatment - ASAP Please!

Personally, I would never take my TA to ANY dealership - not even my Jeep to its own service department after a few horrific discoveries of sheer incompetence the likes of which I couldn't even approve a stray dog to trust driving it post "repairs." My suggestion, if you are fortunate to have...

    Gasket Wars

So I went through the wringer of attempting to choose from various gasket materials for specific applications, wandered into the depths of websites and reviews, and was left to my mad experiments. So far, straight Cork was successful on the valve covers only but not on the tranny pan (neither...

    79 Trans Am Macho TA

Certainly, it's a nice find for someone with the time and cash to put her all back together, but the Machos have their own niche among the Birdies. Try researching past sales on all the nationally-franchised classic dealerships to get a feel for condition and price, and you'll get an idea...

The Agony Of A Rear Gear Fluid Change

You went further than I did. I "thought" (briefly, LOL) about removing the bar but, for some reason did it the very hard way. I used a Fel-Pro gasket on mine, dry as intended, despite half of its reviews suggesting issues with leaking. Anyways, I just got back home after running mine...
