Tires for 1997 Trans Am

I currently have 245/50/R16 on my 1997 trans am will 225/55/R16 fit my car?

I plan on getting snow tires.

I plan on getting snow tires.

Unfortunately, the 245/50-16 is even smaller in diameter than the 225/55-16 and would increase the speedo error to 2%.
