Hey, I just acquired a 2002 Firehawk (SLP #1099).

It is in perfect shape with under 28K miles.

Does anyone have a clue as to this switch to the right of the Hurst shifter?

Is it skip shift-related?

So I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle, and the prior guy left me his contact information since he would like the opportunity to get the car back when "I am done with it".

Whatever that means?

I need to find his email, as this is too much of a mystery.

The SLP Registry team thinks this might be an aftermarket security system add-on.

The switch is for code entry.

But, they admit that their switch looked much different.

I wasn't aware of any mods, and the prior owner didn't strike me as the type who would do that.

Although, maybe a security system?

This Firehawk already comes with the theft-deterrent package.

I will let you all know what I find out.

No response from the previous owner (yet) as my email probably went directly to the spam folder or worse, and I might need to use the phone.

More info: There is a red LED next to my TCS switch in the center location that is always on.

Here's a pic. I pulled the car out of the garage tonight to check the garage floor for drips (there were absolutely none), and I noticed that the light was off.

I think it went back on when I hit the right side of that switch, and I can't get it to go back off.

It's a puzzle to me.

With the LED on even when I've pulled the key from the ignition, it makes me think it's some additional security system, immobilizer, or something.

It has all the signs of a factory installation.

I popped out the option panel, and the wires behind the LED are labeled "Inspected - Tested."

I guess I have some wire tracing to do.

I hate to pull too many panels on this car, given its perfect condition.

I haven't locked the car, and dare I experiment?

Okay, some additional information.

I only got one key set with the car.

The local GM dealership checked to see if I could obtain a duplicate, and they can do it for me.

There was a second fob with no keys on it (photo).

I tested the first fob with the keys, and it opens my hatch.

The other did nothing.

I opened the second FOB case to install a new battery and noticed that it required some minor soldering.

It had a good battery, but it just wasn't connected.

So I went back to it to see if it worked and noticed that snowflake symbol from the switch inside the car on that fob! Lo and behold, it says Clifford.

That matches up with a Clifford G4 Immobilizer security system.

So the mystery is solved, although I am searching for the installation and accurate user manuals.

I have a 10-page G4/G5 SmartWindows User Guide.

That provides some information, but otherwise lacks detail.

But apparently, other model car owners have been saddled with this system.

I should be able to track something down.

It is amazing how much paper they can waste to distribute next to nothing useful.

The installation was very well done, and it made me think it was installed at the factory.

SLP might have done it.

BTW, that alarm system is diligent.

When it's armed in the garage, the Firehawk gets annoyed and beeps at me when I dump cans into the recycle bin.

It beeps (loudly by the way) if I pat the bumper.

Um, I started talking to it, telling it that it's just me and not to worry when I dump the house recycling.

Funny, but everything seems to work perfectly.

I don't have the complete, accurate, and specific alarm instructions for that install.

But, thank god I know how to get in and out of valet mode. ;-)
