I installed a new Holley Fuel Pump (HLY-12-389-11) on a 1976 Trans Am W400 Auto.

2 Issues:
1. A tapping sound from the pump sounds like a lifter tap.
2. At startup, pressure is at 6 psi, after warm-up, the gauge reads O, but the motor does not stop running.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Not sure how this works, I am new on this forum, and my 1st post.

Yes, a bad pump, that's why I went down this road.

Just for Fun, let me take everyone down the crazy Pontiac road.

I think the mistake was putting a gauge on the fuel to see the pressure feeding the Carb.

At startup, pressure is around 6-7 psi; after reaching temperature, it drops to 0-1 PSI with no issues.

Bad pump, right?

Ordered a new Mr. Gasket pump from Summit Racing, installed the Pump, got a ticking noise, 6-7 psi, after warm-up, down to 0-1 psi.

Returned Mr. Gasket pump, reordered a Holley Pump, the same 6-7 psi, with Ticking Sound and 0-1 psi.

I reinstalled the original Pump I replaced (a Holley pump): no ticking, but the same 6-7psi, then 0-1psi that started this fun.

I'm thinking the fuel lines are getting hot (braided 6-AN lines), so maybe wrapping them is needed.

Feedback is appreciated.
