I am starting down the long road of restoring my 76 TA.

A few pics of the car before starting.

It's nice to have some time off.

I stripped out the electrical, heater box, steering column, bumper, and tail lights.

Removed the power windows and locks.

Cut out the windshield and back glass.

The door glass and back window are date-coded and original.

It's time to get the car on my rotisserie to weld some patches in the floor and a new passenger quarter

I dropped the gas tank, rear end, and subframe.

I need to pick up some steel to make the brackets for attaching the back.

I don’t want to use the spring perch; I will try to use the bumper hole.

I am lucky that Ames performance is in New Hampshire.
I went and picked up the floor pan patch panels yesterday.I can’t say enough good things about Ames. They are so helpful.

Rick76, it looks like a good structured build to bring back. I do have a few questions that I hope doesn’t scare you. I see the PMD Invoice has the significant “Y82” notation on the original invoice but it doesn’t indicate a PR code for which tranny was in the car. This should be alarming as It’s not like Pontiac to forget this on any invoice sheets although they have made mistakes. Additionally the original nose emblem on a 50th is gold, and the one on the car you have is red. These two things are a little scary for me to see if the car is indeed a 50th. Might I suggest you purchase the original “factory invoice” from Pontiac Historical Services here: https://www.phs-online.com/ All you have to do is provide the cars vin and he does the rest. It’s good insurance if you plan to sell the car at a later time to have this information if the car lacks the original “build sheet” which was behind the rear seat or above the gas tank (they usually all had two build sheets in these two locations). But it will tell you for certain if that car you have is a TRUE 50th Anninversary 76 TA.

the nose is a 76 from a parts car that’s why it has the red bird,I will replace it with a gold after paint. The document I posted is from phs and does match the vin on the dash and on the firewall.
Perhaps the transmission is not listed because all 455’s were 4 speeds

A very good possibility but the price of the tranny isn’t listed on the invoice either and they are not free. Lol Thanks for the kind response as I saw some alarms going off in my head that may have been cause for concern. It is a beautiful car and having one of 319 is ultra rare. You’re doing a great job.

You had me at hello…..you had me at hello! LOL WOW, nice stable you’ve got there. I’m a fan of all of those. I figured you knew what you had but thought it best to just pass on some knowledge. Please forgive me if I came across as anything other than trying to be respectful and helpful.
